I discovered by chance a website at detailing The Proceedings of the Old Bailey, London 1674 to 1834 which may be of interest to members.
The website is fully searchable by name so may help you if your ancestors were involved as defendants witnesses or even jury members.
The website is at http://www.oldbaileyonline.org/
I've been looking at it for a few days and reading the details of the cases is very interesting particularly the language used.

Hi David,
That is very good site that you found. Whilst i did not find any direct relatives, i did find my families name appearing a few times as victims, witnesses and defendents, and it makes interesting reading. I also love the fact that they have gone to the trouble of maing links to the national archives to point to other sources of possible information for each 'case'.
it would be well worth adding this into the 'links' section of the site.

I found my great great grandfather, Joseph Lough and his daughter Eliza. Hitherto we knew only that ELiza was born and baptised - now we know that she lived to be 16 months old.

NB that Hoywell Street should be Holywell Street and is in Shoreditch, not as shown on their map. I have emailed them about this.
Well done that man !
