I've just been sent a gedcom file that includes about thirty individuals who also appear on my main file. The event information is often complementary.
Is there any way I can merge the two sets of information to the correct person as the only alternative might be to type all the extra information in [frown]

There is no problem with this just use the merge/compare file option.
As with any major task I would recommend backing up your main file first. Remember to check carefully that it has correctly matched the people in the file.
