I have Family Historian and my ged files on two computers: a desktop I use at home and a laptop I take to Record Offices. I can copy the custom queries, reports, etc., from the desktop to the laptop (as well as the latest versions of the ged files), to ensure that I have the most up-to-date version, but I have so far found no way of transferring Diagram Options, and have to set up the two computers side by side and laboriously work through all the settings to get them the same. Is there some way to do this by simply copying a file? It may be that I have not set up the text schemes in the most appropriate way for this.

Text schemes on two computers
Text schemes are easy to transfer as they exist as files. As are some diagram options.
The folders can be found in the same subdirecory as the Queries folders normally something like
C:Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily Historian
Unfortunately I believe some of the diagram options are stored in the registry.

Thanks. Yes, that's how I transferred the queries, etc. There was a text Scheme file, and I transferred it, but it didn't produce the same result. When I typed in the settings manually, it did. Odd. Don't think I want to start editing the Registry every time I want to do this! Not a major problem, though, as I don't change the text schemes very often, whereas I do create new queries frequently.

David,
Custom text schemes, custom diagrams and custom queries are stored in the folder
C:WINDOWSAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily Historian
You could copy these folders from one of your computers to the other. I copy these to a cd to ensure that they do not get lost, in the same way that copy my gedcom file.

Thanks for your comment, but, just in case anyone reading this gets confused, whether the queries, etc., get stored in (some drive):Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily Historian (as they will be in a clean install of XP) or in (some drive):WindowsAll UsersApplication DataCalico PieFamily Historian or in (some drive):Winntprofiles, etc., etc., depends not only on the operating system but also on the history of the operating system (for example whether Windows XP was installed from scratch or upgraded from Windows 2000, etc.). However, all you need to do is search for Calico Pie, and that should find the path where these files are.

I believe you may find that the Application Data folder is a hidden folder so when you do the search make sure you tick the option to include hidden files and folders.
