Text Schemes

Post by Ged » 05 Sep 2005 22:28

Many of the text schemes (eg Name, Birth, Marr, Death & Places (abbr)) have a large space under the text, enough for another line of text with space to spare. This is in the boxes where all the fields contain data. It is the same when a custom made template is created from scratch. On a large diagram (say All Relatives) these extra spaces can cause the diagram to need an extra row of A4 sheets when it is printed.
In the Dimensions tab (More dimensions) the top margin is adjustable to a very small size, but the bottom (even at minimum) is too large.
Is there some other adjustment that I am missing?

remember the minimum box depth is the maximum possible lines. So make sure any unused lines are removed from the schemes, on all box types.

Thanks for your reply, Jane. I understand what you are saying but I don't understand why some schemes use more lines in the boxes than there are in the template.
For example, Scheme 'Name, Birth, Marr, Death' inserts 4 lines of text in the boxes, which are filled right down to the bottom (when all fields contain data). However, the next Scheme in the list 'Name, Birth, Marr, Death & Places' correctly inserts 7 lines of text in the boxes but then leaves a further 2 lines blank under the text.
It is these blank lines I am trying to lose, to keep the diagram height to a minimum. Can I do anything about this?

Regards, Ged

Have you tried taking out the picture line?

Hi Jane
Yes I've tried it on several templates and it makes no difference at all.
