Census Lists

Post by dataman » 02 Sep 2005 08:01

Hi

Is it possible on FH, using the Query List, to view all the individuals on a particular UK census. I am using the Gedcom Census programme to record my entrants and would like to know who and most importantly who isn’t on a census, so that I can try and research them.

For example if I wanted to know who was on the 1861 census could I bring up the complete list of individuals and families who I have recorded as being present on this census. The same for the other censuses. Thus highlighting those who I haven’t located on any one census. I would find this most useful,

If anyone could let me know if this can or cannot be achieved I would be most grateful. Also if it can please could they post the format or explain very simply what I should do.

Depending on how you source and record census information it is normally possible. Have you tried all the queries for census information in the query store ?

Hi Jane

Thanks for your reply regarding Census Lists. I record my census info via the Gedcom Census Programme (Gedcom Census v4.0 ). I'm not too sure what you mean by 'queries for census information in the query store ?' As you can probably yell i'm a bit of a novice. All i want to do is ascertain who i have listed on various censuses so that i can miss for those who I have located. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry to take up your time

If you click the Download link on this site, it will show you a list of files (including Queries) that users have uploaded to share with us.

If you download one, you simply double-click on it to install it as a custom query (or diagram etc.) within your copy of FH.

There are a number of census related queries here already.  If they don't do quite what you need, you can use them as an example to produce your own.

Thanks, though I think that may be a bit hard on Jane - without her efforts we wouldn't be able to download these custom queries!
