exporting a GED file

Post by Guest » 18 Jun 2005 17:41

On several occasions I have had to create GED files of large branches of my tree. Using the ANCESTORS query with the tree splitter gives me just that, only the ancesters. It does not include their siblings and nephews, cousins, etc.

Is there a query, or way of creating one that will include everyone related to a selected person? In that way I could just 'break' the link from them to their wife/husband and the run the query.

Why not use the All relatives query?

I don't understand the previous answer, but I had the same problem and solved it by copying my Ged file and strategically removing the link between the people you want and the people you don't want (i.e. select individual, Unlink from...) then using the Orphans query do delete one half.

I am not sure what you don't understand about using the all relatives query to do the split, all you do is delete everyone not realted to the person you are sending to or your shared ancestor.
