I currently use FH on a Desktop computer which also has all my family pictures on which I link to individuals rather than embedding.
I now want to show some relatives the fruits of my research and need to transfer things to my laptop.
I dont necessarily want to copy all the picture files on to the laptop. I was thinking of just installing FH on my laptop and also the gedcom file.
Obviously Im not expecting the pictures to appear in diagrams etc..but will I get any errors with FH trying to find files that wont be there.
Presumabaly If I do transfer the pictures I would have to store them in an identical file structure to that on My desktop PC wont I?
thanks for any help.

Transfering FH to a laptop
You can just move the files you need, optionally you can relink the files on the laptop, using the work with external file links tool. Another posibility is to use the tool I wrote to move FH files to phpgedview which resizes and re-links files, in the process of which it makes copies of the photos, however I would tend to try and move at least the linked files as I have found showing the tree in my family gains extra information which needs entering.
