All Relatives Diagram
Hi All
This is difficult to describe but -
when I use the Standard All Relatives Diagram (With Pics) I end up with one siblings family on the right and another on the left of the diagram instead of both being under their parents. What am I doing wrong? Why are these particular family members not kept under their parents like the rest of the families?
Very frustrating.

Any chance you could upload a screen shot so I can see the problem. If possible also detail the settings you are using.

Its a bit difficult to see who the root is.
Have you tried playing with the diagram options to do with layout?
I would suggest using smaller numbers for generations up and down, to start with and using the autoset options for No. Rows
Also try using a slightly different route. Currently you can not move specific branches, but by changing settings you can often get the result you want.

I have changed all the settings you have suggested and changed the root etc - still not better. None of the other Family History applications I have imported the tree into do this. I particularly want to use my Family Historian prog because all the pictures are associated with the people in this one and it woud be rather a task to input this into a new prog. However, it may be quicker than trying to sort this one out

I think the root of the problem is you only have half the tree and the all relatives is expecting the rest of it.
I have asked Calico if they have any suggestions. Did you center the tree on the person right over to the right or the couple?

Also try centering the diagram on his parents as a couple. To do this click on the father and hold down the CTRL key and click on the mother then click on the All Relatives Icon

Family Historian's All Relatives diagram is we believe unique to F.H. It shows not just ancestors and descendants, but all relatives, laid out so that you can see how they are related to the root(s). In order to do this, the diagram needs a system for laying out relatives so that they can fit. The basic system, is that for each married pair of ancestors, the male ancestors relatives are laid out on the left, and the female ancestor's relatives are laid out on the right.
This system is hard to beat where both members of the couple are recorded and both have parents, But where they don't, the layout doesn't feel optimal I agree. We will be looking at what we can do to improve it.
Best wishes

Thanks for all the help - I have sorted it by having the parent as the root - just as some of you suggested.
Thanks Again
