I have created individual custom events for 'Death of father', 'Death of mother' and 'Death of sibling'.  Is there any way to automatically apply these events to all living siblings without having to trek through pane after pane in large families?

Why have you created events for these. If you want to add them to reports you can do this by using the events against the other family members on the reports.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, Jane - could you explain in more detail please?  I created these custom events because I felt that they are significant life events for an individual that I'd like to see in a report.  I'm still only scratching the surface of what is possible with FH, so if there is an easier way I'd love to hear about it.  My concern with your suggestion is that the people they refer to may not be on the report. For example, if I pick an individual and create a narrative report showing 'Descendants by Generation', the individual's parents and siblings are not shown.  I'm probably missing something obvious here due to inexperience creating reports and using the program.

I would sugest using the induvidual summary rather than the narrative report, which is still new, you can then add events and other information as you see fit, so for example use the data reference on add event to drill down to Mothers death event and add that.

I like the narrative report as an easily understandable way to explain the family tree (especially their own ancestors) to elderly relatives, and younger ones with no experience of genealogy.  It also helps me keep the ancestors straight in my mind!  If there was a narrative report which produced 'Ancestors by Generation' for a particular person, it would be perfect.  The individual summary  just isn't what I want here, especially if I have to 'drill down' to add specific details instead of having them automatically added.  Thanks for your help.
