Adding User Defined Tags

Post by Guest » 13 Apr 2005 14:41

The current Family Historian 2.3.5 release does not provide the ability (as far as I have been able to determine) to add user defined tags say via a right click on the ALL tab. I wish this were added to the next release so I can add new unsupported tag such as URLs.

Can I suggest you check things before posting wish list items.

You can add any custom events and attributes via the custom field, once a custom event/ attribute has been added it will be listed. This is already there.

I wish to add user defnied tags - not custom events. The GEDCOM 5.5 standard supports user defined tags with a leading underscore - FH can import these when I add them manually and then threat their values as text fields, but I don't see a way to add these within FH.

User defined tags are basicly the same as user defined custom attributes, which you can already do.

Then how would I add a _URL tag for a source for instance?

more interesting to me is ... how to get rid of attributes ?
I did a quick test with attributes _TEST1, _TEST2 to see what one could do with them.
Works ok. Then I deleted these from the testperson ... but within the menu these _TEST1, and _TEST2 attributes still show up which is nice if being used for another person.
But where are they stored ? when being linked to no person at all ?

Once they are removed from the file and the programme restarted they will go from the list.
