PALM Based Software

I am looking for some software to run on both my and my wife's PALM Tungsten E devices. Ideally I would like to be able to transfer my Family Historian GEDCOM files across, amend them as a result of some off-site research and then export them back to FH. I know this is asking a lot but does anyone know of such software and had use of it.
I would also be interested in any advice from anyone who uses their PALM with FH if the above is not possible.
Kind Regards

I use 'My Roots' from
http://www.tapperware.com which I have found very good on a Tungsten E.

I used Gedwise on a Palm tungsten E which is very good. Gedwise does not allow you to amend the data, but I prefer to update it in FH on the PC once back at home. It is very easy to transfer the Gedcom file from the PC into the Palm.

Has anyone used the software on a Palm Zire (early Zire same OS/memory/processor as a Palm V)?

I have been using MY ROOTS first on a Palm M515 and now on a TunstenE. I have been looking at some alternatives after seeing a paper by Jay Sage of the Jewish Genealogical Society of Greater Boston. The review covers My Roots, Gedwise and GedStar. I have tried all three and added GedStar Pro to the list. I am still in the stage of trying all of them during a free trial stage. I am erring at the moment to the last.
There is a very interesting comparison in the paper of the capabilities of the programs covered.
To quote from the paper -
All three products (as best we have determined) offer the following features:
an evaluation copy is available;
Palm OS 5 is supported (including high-resolution displays);
expansion memory cards are supported to some degree (GedWise is best);
European character set is supported;
the program can display descendant and ancestor charts;
the program includes a relationship calculator.
I could send the whole paper to anyone interested.

I have been trying three programs on my Palm, in addition to MY Roots.
1. GedWise $17.99 ($4.99 for updates)
2. GedStar $13.95 (updates free)
3. GedStar Pro $29.95
All have a free trial period. All three are a lot faster than MyRoots. The significant difference is in the supported events and attributes, and Source details. MyRoots is most limited in this respect but basic information is transfered very well, although notes are limited to 1024 characters.
A signicant difference is in the data editing capability on the Palm. GedWise and GedStar can only export an individuals data via a Palm memo, whereas MyRoots data editing is built into the program and modified records can be marked and selectively exported.
All GEDCOM Facts/Events are supported in GedWise, GedStar is very limited, but GedStar Pro supports all as well. 'All' support includes custom fields, (both programs with the possibilty to select which data is transfered).
GedStar Pro supports some specific programs in the native data format, but the latest version supports GEDCOM 5.5 as well and transfers from FH work very well.
If completed data transfer is required the choice is between GedWise and GedStar Pro. Then it comes down to which display is preferd on the Palm. Personally I found GedStar Pro easier to operate and have added this program to my Palm Tungsten.

I fear this going a little off-topic but does anyone know if there is anyway to get FH on to my Trea 600 by Handspring. It is palm powered.
This would be unbeliebably useful although I think it is wishful thinking.

No need for replies. I have found that Gedwise runs ok. Much to my surprise [smile]. For anyone considering doing the same its display only, no editing possible which suits me just fine.

Thanks for all the input that I received. I evaluated Gedstar Pro, Gedwise and My Roots. For me on the Palm Tungsten E Gedstar Pro was the choise as I found that editing on the PALM could in fact cause complications which I preferred to do without. Hope you all find your answers
Kind Regards
