Reports

Since upgrading to 2.3.5 I have problems trying to save reports.

For instance, I select an individual in Individual Records, and then take the route Reports / Miscellaneous Reports /Descendant Outline, click OK and the correct outline report is produced. However, when I then come to try to Save Report As, using the right-hand menu, the software 'hangs' and doesn't respond, whether I am trying to save as HTML, Rich Text Format or Text File. When the software hangs, the main task bar that runs File Edit View disappears to a grey bar, leaving just the little icon of the yellow envelope with the red wax seal.

Anyone else experienced this, have any suggestions or know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks!

Not had any problems with that. The only thing I can think is its windows rather than FH, perhaps the last report you save you saved to a removable device? If this sounds familiar try plugging the device in before saving the file.

Any one else any ideas?

Hi Jane

Thanks for reply. I am not however using any portable devices.

Anyone else come up against this?

Does it only hang when you try to save a report, e.g. If you save a query or a diagram does it do the same thing? Does 'Save As' work OK in other programs?

Have you tried running Validate on the File menu to see if file is corrupt in some way?  If ever F.H. hangs that is always the first thing to try.

I followed your instructions and it didn't hang when I did it.  I tried saving as HTML, RTF and text and it all worked fine.

Thanks, Simon. I tried 'validate' and it confirmed that there are no problems. I ran the reports again but with the same outcome.

Nick, I can save diagrams etc without problem and all other software appears to be working fine.

Could it be interference by pop-up blockers or my firewall or similar?

Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

What OS are you running.
If XP/2000 is your current user an admin one?

I am sure its probably to do with the folder windows is trying to open for you.
