Transfer of e mail

Hello & Good morning. I shall shortly be leaving my SP NTL and joining AOL. I have two questions, how do I communicate my new address to FHUG and to the users group, and secondly is it possible to transfer some of the important information that has been sent from one SP to another? Thank you Ron

The first question is easy.
Simply unsubscribe from the mailing list and resubscribe with your new address.

On FHUG, use the edit profile option from the My profile link to update your email here.

On the second point,
where do you have your NTL mail stored if you have it in a PC program like outlook express it will remain there even once you go to AOL. However I am not sure about AOL as I have never and will never use it. Be careful as it often blocks automated e-mails such as the ones FHUG and FHU send out, you may need to ensure you have your whitelist set up correctly to receive mails via it.

Thank you Jane, I must say that you have me extremely worried now as the last thing I want to do is lose any of the questions and answers that I enjoy reading. Would you please recommend an SP that I can rely upon, certainly one that is 'kind' to beginners. If you prefer you can reply direct to me. Thank you for your continued help. Ron

You might want to consider http://www.freeola.net
I have always found them quite helpful and their systems are good, they even provide unlimited web space etc. In fact thats where this site runs.

Were you going to have broadband or just a dialup account?

Not really, but Freeola are a little more expensive for broadband than Bt, although you get more for your money, including a static IP address which is useful if you need such things. Their dial up service which I used for years prior to getting broadband is also very good.
I have had no problems at all with their broadband service, don't think I could go back now.

I have been using PlusNet broadband for a couple of years and find them very reliable. It is good value too at £14.99 a month for a 1Mb connection. See them at http://www.plus.net

Zen are very good too and do take a look at Pipex. I have always found nildram to be very reliable but they are not as cheap as others. The best advice regarding broadband, in my opinion, can be found at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/. This site allows easy comparison between providers and also colates results from tens of thousands of 'speed tests' to provide a Top ten fastest broadband ISP list each month.
