Ancestors Narrative Report

I wanted to produce a report showing the ancestors, rather than decendents of a family member - to answer the 'Where did I come from?' question.

I created a list of all his male ancestors (including the females just produced twice as many pages with no extra information). I then set the Decendents Narrative Report option to one generation.

The Report produced was most of what I needed. As each sheet had 'First Generation' across the top, I changed these in Word to 'Great Grandparents' etc. as appropriate.

I found it was best to order the ancestor list in families (in ahnentafel numbers 8,10,4,12,14,6,2)

The Report can be extended to an 'hourglass' by added a descendent report of the person in question at the end.

Can we have an automatic one of these in a future release?

Another way is to use the individual summary for each male ancestor.

One extra trick is to create a query which adds all ancestors and then 'exclude' if sex female.
