on the records window select the person (step child) and right click select add new family as child, fh will warn you they already have parents, you can then continue to add another set of parents (your current marriage).

On the records window or the All Tab on Properties Dialog right click on the blue 'Parents Family' and add Relationship.
To show the field on Queries or on a Diagram its
INDI.FAMC[2].PEDI[1]
Assuming the Second Listed Family is the one you want to show.

I've added this for my step children and then created an 'all relations' chart for my wife and I and it shows the children twice, once under myself and my wife and once under their father and a dotted representation of my wife. The children are solid in both cases. I must say I expected a dotted line joining them up or one of the two representations probably the children below me to be a dotted version. Is this what other people got who have used step children? Is this what other people would have expected? Any suggestions on things I may have done wrong if this is not expected?
Thank you
Martyn

Expected or not FH will repeat information, where multiple links exist. What I do is turn off the one I don't want and if I am going to print out the information, I use one of the title boxes under the 'turned' off bit to say the data is shown somewhere else.
I get it a lot with my husbands family as there are several occassions where sibblings marry other sibbling pairs.
eg
Mary marries John
Mary's Sister marries John's Brother

Thank you again Jane, love the new picture by the way. I wondered if I had done anything wrong, I'll turn off the step children relationships if it causes duplication.
