I have used the split tree function it is powerful, but I find it cumbersome.
I would love to see the ability to play with your tree on screen, turning lines on and off (c.f. other wish list item) and then press a button and export exactly the tree you can see on the screen.
If a line is turned off it doesn't export, all that you see you get.
Simple, neat and tidy.

Yes yes yes!!! I quite agree. This combines (if I understand you rightly) two basic features 1) the ability to make a new GEDCOM from the people in a diagram or report etc. - without having to fiddle around; and 2) the ability to take a diagram and expand any branch one would like at will, with any other relatives who are in the GEDCOM.
I am frequently wanting to do a simple ancestor chart, for example, but to add just one or two descendent sub-branches of particular ancestors, without doing the more complicated 'all relatives' with its frustrating waste of space (compelling one to have several 'bands' per generation even if they're not needed) and lack of flexibility.
