This new forum software has many more features than the old one and includes easier ways to include pictures and other items.

For a full guide to all it can do please see:

Also don't forget the FAQ link near top right.

Your Location and Family Historian Version are edited along with other personal settings via the centre top User Control Panel > Profile options.

Here are some tips for when you are Posting or Editing a Topic.

There are some Custom BBCode tags:

The kb button offers shortcuts to KB, e.g. how_to:index|Family Historian is produced by

Code: Select all

[kb]how_to:index|Family Historian[/kb]
The topic button offers shortcuts to Topics, e.g. I can't sign in! (4253) is produced by

Code: Select all

[topic]4253|I can't sign in![/topic]
The topic number comes after t= in the browser address bar.

Upload attachment settings:
Maximum file size is 256 KBytes.
Many file types are allowed including all Family Historian custom data files and gedcom files (ged),
image files such as GIF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, TGA, TIF, TIFF,
plain text files such as XML, TXT, LOG, JS, CSV, CPP,
document files such as DOC, DOCX, ODG, ODP, ODS, ODT, PDF, PPT, PPTX, RTF, XLS, XLSX
and a few more besides.

I don't see how to change my signature in the UCP. What am I missing?

Note that when I posted, the box to include my signature was checked/ticked but as you can see there is no signature.

I may have gotten rid of my old signature before the change to the new software. But I don't see how to create a new one.

Jan I have checked your user profile and there is currently no Signature set. I did not change any of the user settings when I upgraded the theme here, but I did not move signatures when changing from the old forums.

To change your signature
Select User Control Panel from the top of the page then

1. Click Profile
2. Click Signature
3. Enter your Signature with what ever BB codes you want.

I have added a small extra function. If you look at the Topic Title you will see an * to the left of it, if you click on it you will get a filled in Topic link you can paste into another post with out having to make a note of the number and title.
Does not apply to the prosilver board style.

To make it easier to add Knowledge Base Links to the Forum, on the Knowledge base hovering on a header in the knowledge base will show a chain link, right clicking on the chain link will allow a standard "copy link address" option, left clicking will pop up a window with the kb tag for the article completed so it can be pasted into the Forum.
