switch off the popup at the RH side of the FHUG forum webs
Is it possible to switch off the 'popup' at the RH side of the FHUG forum website, apart from being distracting and something I never use, it takes up valuable real estate and stays over forum text when using my android phone?

I don't have a phone but on my full size screen if you hover the mouse over the lower end of the popup a pair of arrows appear and clicking them slides the pop-up off the screen and leaves behind a pair of arrows that can be clicked to show the popup again.

yes, I did notice that, but the hovering is very fiddly on a phone, and like you say, does not stay off. Never mind, just another uncontrollable minor irritation!

Curious - the pop-up is at the bottom of the screen on my phone (Motorola G3) in both Chrome and Firefox - while it covers stuff, it only needs a bit of scrolling and the hidden stuff is visible. I can imagine that a right-hand alignment would cover a lot of stuff leaving minimal opportunity to reveal it. I don't recollect doing anything to cause the bottom float. Certainly not in two different browsers.

yes, but if you turn your phone to landscape it covers data, probably depends on your phone and which browser you are using, I am on Samsung galaxy s5 with chrome browser. Otherwise it works find.

I don't want to get into a discussion about the use of Ad-blockers, but I have AdBlock installed in Chrome and right-clicking the pop-up at the bottom brings up a contect menu with AdBlock as an item. Using that it is possible to block the pop-up and it seems to be sticking across FHUG.
Before anyone complains I removed the block after testing as the pop-up does not affect my screen estate and if it is bringing in money for FHUG then good.
How you right click with a phone I have no idea!

Ah - so it does. Apparently I've been able to read FHUG in portrait mode on my phone so never needed to spin it round. Which is not always possible in other forums. (Fora?).jimlad68 wrote:... if you turn your phone to landscape it covers data ...
