Can't add Website
I have tried on numerous occasions to add my website to the member list but with no luck. I complete the form and when I submit it I get the message "You are not allowed to create this page, maybe you forgot to log in?"
I am definitely logged in as I've just tried it a couple of mins ago and I must be logged in to post this message.
Any suggestions please?

Re: Can't add Website
You have to sign up for the Knowledge Base in order to be able to edit entries, and login via the Tools > Login link on the far right.
See links:index|> Member Web Sites > Introduction where it says:
[EDIT] Finger trouble, links above now correct.

This extra precaution on top of the Forum Login has been found necessary to prevent rogue spam entries.Anyone is welcome to Add a Member Web Site Link, but you do need a info:signing_up|editing account, so if you don't have one, just follow the link to request one.

Hi Mike,
Thats what I did, i.e used tools - login and used my Forum details and it logged me in ok, or should I say it said logout the next time I looked at tools. So I assume I must be logged in. Now confused.
I tried your link re Editing account and got the following:-

Re: Can't add Website
Rick, I have corrected those faulty links - Jane was correct.
Your screenshot shows Home as the left most option instead of Edit which is needed to be able to create/edit pages.
Also, in the Member Web Sites page there should be many Edit boxes down the left margin if you are logged in to KB.
The Signing Up page says you need A Silver Rank on the Forums (i.e. 5 posts or more); but you have only Newbie Rank (2 posts) so did you put a Comment in the form as requested?
Jane, can you investigate the state of Rick's KB account?

Re: Can't add Website
So, I am confused now.
Rick says he was able to login using the Tools > Login KB menu option, and it changed to Logout.
So does this mean anyone with a Forum account can go through the KB login process and appear to be logged in, but without any KB Edit privileges?
If so, then I feel that would be very confusing to most people.

Re: Can't add Website
The KB will allow anyone on the Forums to login, and they can then use the subscribe and other options, but not edit any pages, until they are added to the editors group, when the edit options will appear.
Before we changed forums the user ids were completely separate, so passwords etc did not stay in sync now the accounts are actually the same account, and I only need to maintain one set of user data. To give edit privileges I just add the forum user to the editors group.
To try a clarify I have updated the messages on the Signing up page.

Re: Can't add Website
I have given that clarification more prominence by moving it to the top.
I have also changed the Request Form from requesting an Account (which already exists) to requesting Edit Privileges.
I hope that hasn't broken the form.
Does the user have to Login to the KB in order to be allowed to use this Request Form?

No, I just signed out and the form works just fine, as it does not write to the Knowledge base, but just sends an email to me.Does the user have to Login to the KB in order to be allowed to use this Request Form?

I added one but it's ended up in limbo. I should delete and try again maybe.

Re: Can't add Website
Craig, your The Mölleken Family and SEPULCHRA entries are OK, but links:members_web_sites:swinton_people|> Swinton People isn't indexed in the Family Historian Version 5 list in the main page for some reason.
You should NOT need to delete and try again.
Jane, should be able to sort that out now that the problem has been identified.
Rick, your entry will remain in links:recently_added_links|> Recently Added Member Web Sites until Jane updates the index.

I have rebuilt the indexes, please can you check and see if it's fixed any issues with newly added pages.
