Research Log

I can't find any research log in Family Historian. Does anyone know if there is one or may there be one in the new version 5?

I am generating a lot of data that I need to check or add to for some missing information, e.g knowing there is a gravestone, inputting this into FH but then needing to remind myself to go back to the church and obtain the exact wording. Or having a baptism parish register entry but needing to check the occupation again.

I have now got pages of written notes for things like this but it would be useful to record it in the software, as I'm currently losing track of what I need to do.

I could use notes fields but would then have to know whose records contained research notes in order to extract them; not an easy task.

Thanks very much.

There a couple of ways to record research notes in FH.

The most basic one is the Named List process, simply add the record to a list of your choice and record information against it. You can then print out the to do list at any time.

Another option is to use a custom attribute to add a Research tab to the property box.

This was discussed a while ago on the FHU see

There is some more advice in the FHUG Knowledge Base.
