Programme freezing

Post by Mulroney » 18 Jan 2012 09:26

Suddenly overnight I have problems with the programme freezing. I have had some problems with the Files opening in focus window instead of root person also. I have been trying to enter data but after entering the info and then clicking on source citation to add this it freezes the whole programme and I have to close it down. Certain other actions do the same. I have not had this before.

Anyone got any suggestions. I fear I may have altered a setting without realising it.

It also happens when I go to create a Gedcom

A couple of things to try.

If you can use the File>Validate option to check your file.

Additionally try starting in Safe Mode and see if FH behaves. The most common 'Overnight' problem, is your Antivirus has updated and is causing problems with FH.

Also try opening and working on the Sample file, does that also cause problems?

Programme freezing

I have had some slowness (although not complete freezing) as well. On some days when I am using the program it takes ages to accept a new piece of information. Other days all is quick as normal. I have put it down to various updates of my anti virus, specially after the fiasco last autumn with McAfee!
