Exported GEDCOM file Excludes more than expected

I am running FH V4.1.3 on a Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit PC.
If I use File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File with its default settings then many more Records are excluded than expected.
The culprit seems to be the Exclude all records which are not linked to the selected Individual records option that is ticked by default.
I expected it to work like the File > Split Tree Helper options to Delete ****** Records left with no links to them - but it does not!

Exclude all records which are not linked to the selected Individual records appears to behave literally as worded.
If I use Export > GEDCOM File and the Add All button, I expected only the few Records with zero links to be excluded, but the following happens:
All Note Records not linked directly to Individual Records are excluded, which for me is all Notes as mine are only linked to Multimedia Records.
All Source Records not linked directly to Individual Records are excluded, which is all Source Records only linked to Family Facts/Records.
All Repository Records not linked directly to Individual Records are excluded, which for me is all Repositories as mine are only linked to Sources.
All Submitter Records not linked directly to Individual Records are excluded, which is always all of them.
All Multimedia Records not linked directly to Individual Records are excluded, which for me is most Multimedia as they are only linked to Sources.
The only Multimedia Records retained are those listed in the Individual Property Box on the Multimedia tab.

If Exclude all records which are not linked to the selected Individual records is not ticked, then the only records excluded are the Individual Records not selected, and any directly associated Family Records. All other records are retained, even if they have zero links.

So how do I achieve a clean Export of a subset of Individuals, with all the directly and indirectly linked records retained, but the remainder excluded?
Answer: Use Split Tree Helper   -   so what is the point of Export > GEDCOM File?

There appears to be a related Forum Thread entitled Export and Missing Marriage Sources that reaches no conclusion and has no response from Calico:

Of course I agree with tatewise that Export > GEDCOM File... is of limited use, and would be much more useful if it had an option to export other records linked to Facts, Sources, Notes, etc., for the exported Individual record(s).

The Split Tree Helper does have this ability, but it too has a limitation.  Any Family record to which a retained Individual record is linked, as either child or spouse, is also retained.  The Family-as-Child record will no longer show the names of the parents (unless their Individual records are also retained), and the Family-as-Spouse record will only show the name of the other spouse if that Individual record is also retained.  However, in both cases, Source, Note, and Multimedia records, linked only to the retained Family record, are also retained by the Split Tree Helper.  In some cases there may be a danger that such records contain names and other information that the user would prefer to have excluded.

In any case Individual record Note Fields and/or linked Note Records could also contain information that should be excluded.  I would always recommend careful checking of the resultant GEDCOM file whatever method is used to remove unwanted data.

This problem will be fixed by FH V5.
