I suppose that this has been asked many times however please indulge me.
I'm going to go into Scotlands People in the next month or so to do some research. My FH (v4) is at present on my desktop. however it would be ideal if I could transfer a copy of it onto my net book to enable me to take it with me and avoid making copious notes. Is it possible to do this and if so how?
(My net book does not have a CD player).

Essentially you need to take one the following two options:
(1) Temporarily add an external USB connected CD/DVD drive to your netbook to install your FH CD's.
(2) Buy a full FH V4 download licence just for the netbook.
See the following threads for more details.

Installing on a netbook using CD-backed installer at

You might also want to consider using Dropbox, or similar, to synchronise your data between desktop and netbook rather than copying data back and forth via say a pen-drive.

Another option for installing to your netbook, if you have both devices on the same network.
Share the CD drive on your desktop, then navigate through explorer on the netbook to find the shared drive on the desktop, then run setup from the cd.

Many thanks for all your help. I emailed Calico Pie and their reply is below. Everything appears to be fine now.
'I assume you have a CD version of V4, if so you will need to copy the contents of the CD to a usb key or external harddrive and install from there.
To move your main data simply use the same method to copy your Project folder to the netbook.
If you have custom text schemes or other settings please see

Once more many thanks.
