Tentative records

Is there a way of adding records which will show up in diagrams, etc. as 'tentative' - that is, records that you think are correct but want to keep an eye on, and not be tempted to base further research on until you know you're as correct as you can be? I'm using 4.1.3 by the way.

I suppose this could be done using different colours or fonts or something, but does anyone have any handy hints?

I tend to add a flag to the record, you can then use that to colour the boxes or show an icon.

I now also use a Custom 'Research' attribute to add a note to the record detailing why it's flagged and the reasoning.

I just wish I did this 20 years ago when I started.

Ah - flags! I hadn't read that part of the book, but now I see it. It seems just the thing, so thanks for guiding me to it. I like the idea of the custom attribute - if I can work out how to create one it'll be just the thing.

Thanks again.

Custom attributes were too complicated for me to dive into, I'm afraid, but learning how to use flags was a doddle, and I've now set up a custom flag which changes the colour of a diagram box to lurid mauve and displays a big question mark in a circle next to it. That should be enough to remind me that the record isn't yet copper-bottomed!
