I have been using v4.1.3 for a little while on and off. Slowly getting used to adding the information I am collecting.
I have had for a while documents from the military's 'burnt records' pertaining to my great grandfathers WWI service. I am struggling to decide how to go about using these in FH.
The whole file runs to about 20 pages. These are the actual WWI service record and added transcriptions where possible. To make things a little easier I have uploaded the file to google docs for anyone to have a look at. Hopefully I can then get a little feedback as to how to go about adding this info into FH.
The file is at :

Thanks for any thoughts

Probably an example of how not to do it. This is with V5 webcreate.
I think I set up a source and attached all the images to it, put FH into auto-citation and then added everything as a fact. The Military Factset kindly created and uploaded by a FHUGee helped.
I seem to remember being gobsmacked as the family sheet was the first time I found out I had a half-uncle (sadly he died aged 5 42 years before I was born).
I've only just put these records up and have noticed that I have not included all the images.

What I have done is create a source record called (e.g.) 'John Smith: military service records'. In the note field of the source record I have entered a summary of the various documents, in chronological order, very similar to the transcript at the end of your PDF. I then attached the images of the documents to the source record. I kept them as JPEG so that they could be viewed directly in the multimedia window within FH, but PDF would be fine as you can still view them by clicking on the PDF logo to open Adobe player.
In the individual's record I create a Military Service fact and enter dates and a very brief summary in the note field , followed by a reference to the source material, for example:
'He served in the 49th Battalion of the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) in England and France, and was detached to the Australian Flying Corps in 1918. See the 26 documents relating to his Australian military service, and the summary of his service gleaned from those documents.'
Against the military service fact I then cite the source record I have created.
I expect you will find everyone who replies has adifferent way of doing things!

Thanks both for the heads up.
I think I need to set up a test file to add what you have suggested. to find out what I feel suits me best before adding into the main record.
Thanks again
