The question is: Why do you feel the need to renumber them?
Also bear in mind that every Type of Record (Individual, Family, Source, Multimedia, etc) has its own Record Id numbering sequence.

Thank you Peter and Tatewise, I thought I would like to change them so that 1,2,3,etc can be for nearer family members, my husband is in the 600 and my parents are also in the 500,s, just thought it would be easier to remember and work with.
Appreciate your help.

In that case, the easiest method involves first setting the Custom Id for just those near family members.
On the Property Box > All tab, right-click the person's name on the very fist row.
Select Add Miscellaneous > Add Custom Id and enter a number.
Repeat for each near family member.
Then use Tools > Work with Record Identifiers and option Generate new record ids by copying Custom Id values, then click Perform Task.
Take note of the warning message, and proceed when happy.
The Individual Records with Custom Id will have their Record Id assigned as required.
All other Individual Records will have their Record Id renumbered, especially if it previously clashed with any of the Custom Id.
Subsequently all the Record Id will be unique.
Once happy, you can clear the Custom Id fields.
