Maiden name in family events in narrative reports

Post by dahliarose » 12 Dec 2007 13:14

Further to the discussion on the user group I propose that the following item be added to the wish list:

'Allow sentence templates to accept data expressions and functions'

I understand that this feature would allow sentences to be altered in family events. Currently the woman's maiden name is given in family events. For example, Jane Brown marries John Smith in 1835. She therefore changes her name to Jane Smith. However, the sentence in the family census event in narrative reports reads 'John and Jane Brown appeared in the census in 1841...'. Flexibility is needed to amend the sentence so that it reads 'John and Jane' or 'John Smith and Jane Brown'.

Ideally this request should be generalised to something like:
Allow all functions/data references to be used anywhere in sentence templates, report and diagram headings etc.
... and the title amended acordingly; that way it will cover all reqests of this nature, rather than the particular case cited.

Currently there is a rather limited list of functions/references that can be used.
