I would like to be able to order my events freely instead of being restricted to categories. For example where a person has several occupations, I like to have them grouped together. Same with residences. I prefer it this way rather than in date order.

Order of events
You can order them anyway you want on the all tab or records window, so do you mean just on the events tab? Although it currently forgets the setting you can sort your events on the tab alphabetically now, by clicking on the description heading.

Order of events
Thank you, Yes, I meant on the Events tab. Sorting alphabetically helps on a temporary basis, but I really don't want an alphabetical sort. I want to use the up/down arrows to order my events freely and have them stay ordered my way.

For now just use the All tab you can do it there.
