Restoring GEDCOM into Project environment

Post by AdrianBruce » 30 Mar 2010 15:42

When restoring a GEDCOM file into a Project (and possibly always), one is presented with 2 dialog boxes in succession:
1. 'Select File to Restore' to select the .ZIP file containing the data to be restored;
2. 'Enter Restore File Name' to specify the name of the GEDCOM file _after_ restoration.

FH should be amended so that when working in Project mode, the GEDCOM file should automatically go back into the correct place for the current project, preferably renaming off the existing GEDCOM for that project first, thus avoiding need for 2nd dialog box.

If it is supposed to be possible to restore a file for a different project during this process, then options for 'Restore GEDCOM File' and 'Restore Project' should be introduced to make it clear what's happening.

Note also the dialog box 'Enter Restore File Name' is ambiguous as it is not clear whether this is the zip file containing the data TO BE restored or the GEDCOM AFTER restoration. Suggest dialog box be renamed 'Enter GEDCOM File to contain data after restoration' or similar.
