Localise config settings within projects
One of the benefits of having separate projects /should be/ that changes in one project don't necessarily affect others. Surely, that's what the XXX.fh_proj file is there for? If I sort the individual records in one project into DoB order, I don't necessarily want to find my other projects re-sorted as well. In fact, I definitely don't -- it's a real pain. Please provide the capability to customise one project -- sort order, columns headings, etc, etc -- without affecting all the others.

Yes!!! Move all the registry settings and hidden files (well in hidden folders) into the project file. Then you can also transfer settings from PC to PC.

Jon,
I agree. In fact I would go further and would also like an option to explicitly save current preferences, colour scheme, report column layout, etc., in a named file in the project folder. There could then also be an option to load a particular saved set of preferences, etc. I guess there would have to be default behaviour to cater for users who prefer the current way of working. Obviously users who prefer not to use a project would miss out on the additional functionality, as they already do for some other existing features.

You can add my name to this request - given how flexible FH is, it seems bizarre that there is no 'per user' or 'per project' configurability.

Agree with all the above - one size does NOT fit all.

I wholeheartedly agree with this request. The ability to have 'local' settings for various things was (sort of) what I was banging on about on 07/01/10, in Home --> Forums --> Usage, in my 'How Can I Save a Colour Scheme?' enquiry.

Yes, please! I thoroughly agree with Jon. It's not rocket science.
We all have our own ways of working and custom settings, FH should be able to accommodate and save them per Project.
Currently I write down and make a note of any settings I change from Default: what a pain!

Having just gone through the agonies of reinstalling everything on a new PC after the sudden death of the old, I couldn't agree more. You think you've got all your data and settings safely backed up - but there is always something you've missed - in my case the standard diagram settings. I wish it was just a problem with FH but no, every program does things just that little bit differently.

I totally agree with all the above. FH4 should support per Project (which implies per User) customization settings. These should be supported by Backup/Restore to/from the Project folder. The ability for any custom setting to be Exported from one Project and Imported to another Project would be a handy bonus feature.
