Mass edit of Data after a Query

Post by Johnyeates » 01 Sep 2011 16:07

The result of a query is in spread sheet format.
Unfortunately the 'Cells' are un-editable, It would be extremely useful to be able to highlight those 'cells' and over type the existing data thus enabling mass editing.

John, have you tried using the 'Save Query to File' option using the icon near top right of screen (3 to the right of the print icon - I'm looking at version 4.1.3). You can then save the results as a *.csv file thus allowing you to edit in Excel (other programmes are available!!).

I think what John wants is mass editing of the GEDCOM data inside FH not an external spreadsheet edit.

Yes, Tatewise is correct.
The result of a Query is in columns & rows and by clicking the top of a column it will be sorted, this is fine but the displayed data is un-editable.
This also applies to the Include/exclude media from charts and reports etc

Just a note, in V5 clicking on any field in Query results will jump you to the correct place in the Property box to edit the field.
