The marriage status entry allows for divorsed, separated, etc., but nothing to show 'death of spouse.' This would be helpful when a widow or widower marries again. The only option now is to leave the status box empty.

The status is against the couple so this would seem the wrong place to store this information. Why not create a custom event if you want to store this against the remaining individual?

Surely this is shown quite clearly in the Property Box of the widow/widower.
On the Main tab, the Spouse section at the bottom shows the Died details, from which it is clear when the Individual was widowed.

I do not think a wish list item should be created for this
