Nicknames (aka)

Several of my forebears had registered in births marriages and deaths their correct forenames 2 or even 3. The problem exists that they were known by a nickname (aka) and many family members and friends only knew them by that.
My father was known for a lot of his life as 'ginge'
My great grandfather was known as 'Willy' although neither of his 2 forenames was Walter . Again myself included, are called and known by family, friends and workmates as our second name not the first
This all leads to a request for a field for 'AKA'. This is as good as Mr Mrs etc..
Some other genealogical packages provide this.
Thanks for your consideration.
