Removing all ancestors from diagram with one click

I like to distribute diagrams to a cousin (for example). However, she is not interested in my father's side of the family and so I would like a one-click diagram option to remove all his ancestors from the current 'Everyone' diagram.

So, a sort of 'Everyone except so and so's ancestors' diagram.

Do you really need an Everyone diagram or would an All Relatives diagram suffice?
If so then you can select your Mother and create an All Relatives diagram, which will exclude your paternal ancestors.

An All Relatives diagram does not show an ancestors first wife, for example.

Have you specific examples, because I believe that all the spouses of every ancestor and all their descendants are shown.
In other words all full & half blood & marriage relatives.

I'm not sure how to provide you with an example - my tree is so large. Can we send attachments on this forum?

An ancestor's first wife is definitely not showing up on my All Rel diagram. They did not have children together, could that be it?

I am sure that children have no effect on whether spouses are included or not.
I have examples of 1st and 2nd wives and 1st and 2nd husbands of blood ancestors in my All Relatives tree.

To include attachments, in the posting edit screen, there is a link Upload Image File maximum size 150Kb (.jpg, .gif, .png) under the edit box.
This allows you to attach screen-shots to your posting, as long as the image is not too large.
If you are running Windows Vista/7 then the All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool is very useful for capturing partial screen-shots.

The everyone diagram shows Catherine Currie Watson as the first wife of James MacPherson.

In the all relatives diagram (with Marie Larsen as root) she does not appear.

You must have some options set because by default 1st and 2nd wife do definitely show. I am using Version 3 but would not expect it to of changed in Version 4.

I think I see what is happening.
The All Relatives diagram shows all blood relatives, and all spouses of blood relatives, but not the ancestors nor spouses of those spouses.
Margaret McCrow is a blood relative (Aunt) of Marie Larsen.
James Murray MacPherson is the spouse (Husband) of Margaret and Uncle by marriage to Marie Larsen.
But Catherine Currie Watson the first wife of James Murray MacPherson is not a spouse of a blood relative, so is not shown.
However, if there are only a few such cases then you could Insert into Diagram > Ancestor Tree for James Murray MacPherson, eta al.

Returning to the Everyone Diagram you could use the File > Import/Export > Export > GEDCOM File option.
Initially use Add All, then Select and Remove using Query and use the Ancestor query for your father.
This will yield a tree the excludes your father's side of the family and produce the Everyone Diagram you desire.
This technique also allows Named Lists to be used to select members of the tree.

Yes, that explains things, that all 'relatives' means blood relatives only. I'd still like to see an option to include non-blood relatives!

I'm using Family Historian version 4.1.3

I think there are two requests here.

1. ability to remove a number of people from a diagram simply
2. have the option to include all connected, blood relative or no, on the diagram.

Is that how others see it?

1. This may be covered by WL#444
2. This is new - but does it ask the same thing as Mike's wish in http://www.fhug.org.uk/cgi-bin/index.cg ... y&num=5524 ?
