FH lack of color coding capability
I've done a search for "color" and "colour" but only see references to diagrams. I don't use diagrams. Tried it but found it to be much slower and a bit tedious.
I prefer to do entries either from the focus window/property box or the Individuals records/property box.
The one feature I really miss from TMG/RM is the ability to assign a color to a person - preferably by a condition - such that anywhere that name appears - focus window/property box/individual record list/query results - it shows up in that assigned color.
So - I had blood relatives one color and direct ancestors another. People married to either of the two were a third color - etc.
Yes, "relationship to root" is very good but it takes up a lot of space and requires me to READ it rather than just seeing by color what I'm looking at. [ps - would be good if 4th cousin once removed could be abbreviated to 4c1r]
Much of my family data is Swedish and everybody has the same set of names. The ability to quickly look at a list of Johan Johanssons and find my ancestor would sometimes be helpful.
Should I be sending this to CP?

Re: FH lack of color coding capability
Well Bev, that request is already in the Wish List as Ref 548 Conditional Colour and Font Options and 7 years old.
Not only that but you commented on it about a year ago.
You also Voted for it but gave it only 0 points so that won't boost its likelihood of happening.
I suggest you Vote again but give it a higher score!
This posting can then be moved to the Closed Wish List Requests.

Re: FH lack of color coding capability
Thank you Mike - I don't know why I was unable to find it. I did search before posting.
I find it difficult to find what I'm looking for on the message boards, knowledge base, wish lists. Possibly this is because I haven't learned the FH speak yet.
I didn't understand how to vote at that time. I just deleted and voted again.

Re: FH lack of color coding capability
In the Wish List, I simply Searched for 'colour' and it was the 2nd of seven matching items.
So no FH speak was needed, just the English spelling for colour!

A workaround while your suggestion is in the wish list being considered.
Create a Note for each individual you want to mark as Blood Relative. Open the Rich Text window and use the toolbar feature "Manage Hashtags..." to add a new Hashtag called Blood Relative. Untick "Private" and assign text and fill colours of your choice. Using that new Hashtag add a distinct marker as the first line of that note, such as #Blood Relative - son of Johan Johannsson and it will be in the colours assigned to the Hashtag.
You can even use the rich text editor to turn that name "Johan Johannsson" into a direct link to the individual.
The Property window can be modified to include a small Note box one line high to display the first line of the Note showing #Blood Relative - son of Johan Johannes in the colours you selected and the clickable link. This only works if your new Note is the first Note for that person so may need a further adjustment to select that specific note based on its content or move the new Note to be the top of the list (if possible).
The Record window can be configured to include an extra column for the Note using %INDI.NOTE2[1]% as a data reference and move that column to be next to the column of names. Now your Blood Relative will stand out in the list and can even be sorted together by clicking on the Note column header. Unfortunately they don't show in colour.
You can build a query to search for all your records containing such markers with a condition like "Add if %INDI.NOTE2% contains '#Blood Relative'
Not a complete solution but perhaps a temporary workaround.

Re: FH lack of color coding capability
For a simpler solution use the "Custom ID" field to store the #Blood Relative or #Direct Ancestor and configure the Record window and Property box to display the entry.
