I have read around the topic of Sources and realise it is a large subject with several application methods possible. Perhaps my approach is too simplistic but a large number of my Media entries are going to be Sources so would it be possible to have the option of creating a Source when adding Media, making it a single step.
I think it would require that three windows would be open, visible and active at the same time: the Media record window, the Media player/Document reader window and the Source record window. Then keyboard data can be read from the Media and added to any of them.

Re: Adding Media and a Source simultaneously
Have you considered a slightly different order...
Create the Source record and on its Media tab drag & drop the image, then Open in Editor/Player.
That automatically creates the Media record and if its details need editing use the Edit Media button.
Switch to the Main tab of the Source record and enter details from the displayed image.
However, in my opinion, that is not usually the time-consuming step but it is adding the Facts & Citations that takes most time.
BTW: Have you tried Ancestral Sources that streamlines adding the most popular Source documents along with the associated Facts & Citations?

I use the drag and drop method he described, particularly with Certificates.
I half-screen FH, open a new source record, d&d the media onto it, then open it in Player so I can have it open to read and type the details into the record. The essential step is the first one.
Not really got to grips with AS.
