Research Notes
Love Family Historian and would never return to Legacy, but do miss the section for Research Notes. Is it possible for FH to include this as an extra tab on the Notes? I do record my research notes with my Notes, but to have them separated would be ideal.

Re: Research Notes
Could you please set your Family Historian version in your Profile via the User Control Panel centre top, so that it appears in your profile panel on the left of your postings.
Not being familiar with Legacy, I don't know what features its Research Notes offer. Perhaps you could explain.
It is also not clear which of the multitude of FH Notes you are referring to. The Notes tab of the Property Box can reference [N] icon linked Note Records, blue bullet Individual Record Notes, and red bullet Family Record Notes. I suspect you mean linked Note Records.
There is a technique described in how_to:create_work_in_progress_or_research_to_do_lists|> Create Work In Progress or Research To Do Lists that may satisfy your needs.
One technique is to use Named Lists that are well documented, another technique is to use a Custom Attribute that holds the Research Notes per Individual.
This latter method can be refined with a Property Box Custom Tab to edit the details, and Custom Queries to report the details.

Re: Research Notes
Thank you. It was not my query but is just what I have been wanting. I used FTM for my course work last year, which I hated (FTM that is) except that you could put your research notes with the record of the individual. I had not realised I could do the same in FH.
Re: Research Notes
Agree, Jenny: both Research Notes/Log and Correspondence Log are both definitely useful features worthy of consideration. The ability to separate these items from Notes that form the narrative of reports, etc, is very handy, indeed.
I have only just 'migrated' from about a decade on RM. I am looking forward to working with, what appears to be, an outstanding program for recording and analysing genealogy. I've hit a few minor GEDCOM import issues, but have found the info on this Forum most useful.
It's a pleasure to find an industry-leading program that is not formatted around Amglish (or LDS-input, for that matter) - progressively annoying when one is bought up learning 'proper' English (and, I'm not from the UK).
With no disrespect to our American friends, it's very refreshing to find a quality alternative to the US programs - keep up the great work, FH.
Cheers

That is exactly what the Custom Attributes Approach mentioned above allows you to do.
[EDIT 2016: Also a Named List called Research &/or Correspondence would appear to offer workable solutions. Nobody has come back on the suggestions so presumably they are happy with them.]
