Simplified Graphical Display for How Related Tool

Post by Seeker »

The How Related Tool has a button for "Display Graphically" This displays many relatives 9 by including siblings of those on the direct connection: on one example for 5th cousins it stretched to 18 pages. One can then go through and hide all those who are not connected by a red line. This reduced the display to one sheet of A4 which was much more understandable and interesting.
I would like to see an option for the graphical display to hide all those who are not on the red line (with a look at the spouse display option)

After using Display Graphically, try the following steps in the diagram:
  • Open the Family Connection Mapper and choose the Menu > Select Route Boxes option.
  • Use Diagram > Selection & Marks > Invert Selection to select all boxes NOT on route.
  • Use Diagram > Hide/Show Boxes > Hide Selected Boxes to hide them all.
Job done!

Thank you. Good to learn a simpler way of doing this, but it is quite a complicated process and difficult to remember. A simple option would be great.

If you don' t want to see the context, why not just use the report?

I prefer a graphical presentation: I find them more interesting.

See similar posting Relationship Reports (11594).

FH V6 now allows you to Hide Spouses or Hide Siblings or Hide Spouses & Siblings so this request has been satisfied and can be closed.

See also Diagram of Direct Line (12660).
