Inserting family tree into diagram

Post by mads » 11 Apr 2009 09:54

Hi,

I have merged the records for two family trees and have been trying to insert the second family tree into the first diagram. I tried the first option of inserting using the common denominator as root, but was left with two coloured circles (pale green) linking the merged record. I tried to uncheck the coloured circles, but they will not go. I then tried using another root - the sibling with the other lot of descendants, which did not result in any coloured circles but detached the original sibling from the second tree.

I hope that makes sense to someone or someone can give me a pointer as to how to insert a second family tree into a diagram without any of these problems.

All the best, mads

Again it's not really clear what your problem is. Another thought might be to simply turn off the ribbons and manually add a line.

Inserting family tree into diagram

Hi Jane,

Thanks for the responses. Thinking about it more, the main question I have is how to merge the root couple (the couple details come up in both trees, even though the family files are merged)once I have inserted a second family tree into a diagram?

I am reluctant to do any manual merging as a couple of copies of the merged tree are for display.

All the best, Madeleine

Have you tried simply CTRL-clicking both of the couple and then doing an all relations diagram.
