Not saving bug

I had a really bad experience today ... I was entering a lot of information over several hours and stupidly (I know, I know) didn't Save at any point. Somewhere along the line the user interface started behaving oddly ... right-clicks were no longer available and some of the tabs in the Individual modal window weren't displaying at all.(Sorry I can't be more specific about what happened - I was doing quite a bit of work using the Individual dialogs, records window and all-relatives diagram plus multi-media and I can't pin-point exactly when it happened or what I was doing). Anyway, at this point I *did* try to save the file. Unfortunately none of the menu items worked - they simply wouldn't respond to mouse clicks or short-cuts etc - although the editing windows were still OK. Since there was no way out I clicked the Close window icon and *poof* the whole lot went - no Save. When I re-loaded I'd lost about 5 hours work :(

I totally accept the blame for not Saving before but would dearly like to know if there is a known problem like this so I can avoid it happening again.

Also is there an Auto-Save option I can check anywhere so it does an automatic Save every few minutes?

Very sorry this happened to you.
If you go to Tools then down to Preferences, you will have a host of buttons, select File Load/Save, then File Saving Options, enable Auto-save, you can also enter the amount of minutes you want it to Auto-save.
