Multimedia after a restore from zip file

I have just had to go back to an earlier file and all was well, and I have added in the new stuff etc. That was until I wanted to do a print out - my pictures had disappeared... other than the four that I embedded before I understood how to link.
When I went to work with Multimedia objects I found that for all but the embedded files, it was trying to use some sort of temporary file.... so as I do not have a great number of files, it was not that difficult to go to each object and attached the right folder (I keep my pictures for the programme in one subfolder of the main). But for future reference, was there an easier way of doing this globally rather than individually.
My back up files by the way are in a sub folder and that of course might the whole answer... if so should I move the file I want to unzip/restore up a level to the same folder I store the main folder in, before I unzip... this has only just occured to me.....
