Individual Gender Dropdown Menu

Post by steveabye » 02 Apr 2008 14:51

Every so often the 'Sex' dropdown menu box disappears and is replaced with a grey box with IND:SEX in it. I've reloaded the software a few times but the problem keeps reappearing.

Using v3.2 since release with WIN98SE. Issue started about 6 days ago.

Never seen that though it sounds like a Windows Resource error, has any one else seen it?

I only use XP and Vista now and have not seen it on those.

Haven't loaded any new software since issue started. Occurs when FH is the only program running.

Using 3.1.2 with Win98SE. I've never seen this error.

When did 3.2 come out?

Steve - there is no 3.2.  The latest version is 3.1.2.  Is that what you meant?

As Jane says, it sounds like a resource error - i.e. your PC is getting over-stretched.  As you have Windows 98, I'm guessing that you don't have a very powerful machine.  How much memory do you have?  I'd recommend not running other programs when running FH and see if that solves the problem.

Steve, even though FH is the only program running there are other programs running in the background such as antivirus programs. Try and close as many of these as possible. Also, the resource problem can still occur due to programs run previous to starting FH. The problem shouldn't occur after a re-boot, unless your memory capacity is small and you're gedcom is huge.

Just a thought did you upgrade the Virus Checker or Firewall a week ago?

It's happened again this morning while running in 'Safe Mode'.

Will do the dreaded Format C: to see if that clears the problem. [mad][cry]
