Following the manual 'Getting the Most From Family Historian.pdf'
Chapter 7, Page label 68 (page 82/209)
Section, 'The Text Tab', 'Name, Date and Place Formats'
Applying Steps 3,4,5,6,7
produce a Family Historian error message similar to
An error has occured. Unable to rename file 'C:ProgramDataCalico
PieFamily HistorianText SchemesStandard~fh7682.tmp' as
'C:ProgramDataCalico PieFamily HistorianText SchemesStandardBirth, marr, Death.fht'
With only the .tmp filename changing.
However, changes do appear to take place on closing the error message.
Any ideas what's going on?
I'm using
Family Historian Version 3.1.2
with Windows Vista Home Premium

Interesting, FH should have authority to write then even in none elevated mode.
I can't reproduce the error in Vista Business. What level user are you running as?
Can you try running the program as administrator, see if you still get the same error?

Jon - you should be able to get round this problem immediately by cloning the 'Birth, Marr, Death' text scheme and then making changes to the clone (to clone it, select it and click the 'Clone' button in the Text tab of the Diagram Options dialog).
You say you have version 3.1.2. Did you buy it as a download? Or as a boxed copy? Or did you buy a boxed copy of an earlier version and then upgrade?

I'm running the program as an administrator.
Simon is correct, the problem goes away if I use a clone of the text scheme.
I initially bought Family Historian with a Version 2.0.7 CD, and upgraded to version 3.0.0 using an upgrade CD.
I upgraded to version 3.1.2 using a CD enclosed with the version 3 upgrade, though that CD looks more 'home-produced', and I assume a copy of the update you can download.
Many thanks for your prompt replies.
