Finding an individual's record from a note search
Although I'm a long-time user, I still haven't cracked this, and I must be missing something really basic.
When I remember a word or two of description of somebody in the database, but don't remember his or her name, I'd like to enter the search terms in the Find Record>Note Search dialog, then match the result up with a name.
But if I (say) input 'Anzio' as I did today, and the note containing the word obligingly appears, I just get the notes records list, with no (apparent) way to go from there to the individual it refers to.
What is the correct way of doing this?

Finding an individual's record from a note search
If you have a note record, just select View/Record Links from the menu.
The alternate method is simply to search individuals as the notes will be included in the search.

Hmm, I may have been doing things wrong for a long time, then, because those techniques don't work for me.
Is it because I've entered notes by going to the 'Notes' tab and clicking on the little box with an N in it, with a cross on its top left corner, and then entering text into the field that results?
These appear to be note *links* (if I've got my terminology right), and they don't seem to behave like standard notes.

I don't use record notes, much as I only use them when I know I need to attach notes to more than one person. If you are searching the note though the View Record Links option should still work.

This is more complicated than I thought.
The View>Record Links is usually greyed out if I try that with the Note Records results.
I do notice that the online help seems to state that creating a local note (i.e. using the N-in-a-box with the + sign on it) creates a note for the current record only.
I shall have to bone up on FH terminology. Thanks for the info.

I presume you are using the record window for your search?
Another way which you may find easier if you are looking for the records concerned is to
View/Standard Query/Contains Text
enter the text you want and it will return a list of records matching your search you can then double click on the name to open the property box.
