I have spent quite a lot of time producing a chart which is fine except that when I returned to it the = sign between marriage partners has been removed. I've checked all possibilities I can think of. I have been using the same setup for all my diagrams (which are quite detailed), & I can't understand why they have gone on this one.

I would prefer not to start from scratch again, so hope someone can tell me how to get them back!

If it's an ancestor chart, check the Fork Style is not checked.

It's a descendant chart so the fork style box doesn't seem to appear

Can you do a quick screen shot of a section of the chart so we can see the issue please?

Sorry, I don't think I can do that - it is part of material being prepared for a publication. I think I would be contravening copyright if I were to do that.

The copy looks just like a normal chart, but without the = sign between partners in a marriage.

One thing that might affect it is the status of the marriage. The type of line changes according to the status. Is the status one where a dotted line appears, and for some reason a dotted line is not that visible on your setup? Is the background colour interfering?

All the marriages are the same in my charts - sometimes there is a marriage, sometimes not, but the sign always appears between partners on my charts except this one.

Even enlarging makes no difference, but I will investigate the background colour to see if that affects it. Otherwise I'll just have to do it again from scratch

It is not actually an equals sign but two parallel lines.  I don't know if this will help but if you increase the distance between the two boxes you will find out if the lines are actually there.

You can do this by clicking on the Movement Contol Box button on the Diagram Menu (the last button on the right); highlight one of the couples' boxes; select Fixed Point > Set (this will put a red band around that box) and then grab the other person's box and move it away from the red banded box.

If the lines are there, they will increase in length.  If not, then you still have the problem and this hasn't helped.

If it does show they are there, the distance between the two boxes can be permanently changed by Selecting Diagram > Options...; select the Dimensions Tab; under 'Horizontal Dimensions', increase the value of 'Between Spouses (Minimum)'; click on Apply and Save As... the diagram as a Custom Diagram Type

Sorry not to reply earlier, but what you recommended works. My diagrams are pretty complicated and detailed, so I had tightened up some of the dimensions. When I changed the meas. bet partners the problem was solved
