Having made good use of the free time on Findmypast and obtained quite a number of images for the 1911 census, I am now trying to update the information I had previously worked out from the index. So each entry already has a Source which contains an 'Actual Text' entry. This is what I am opening, amending or adding to, as the case may be, and then clicking 'OK'.
On many occasions the box has then closed and I can see from the line that my amendments aren't there, sure enough when I click the box to check, they haven't been accepted. Very annoying when there have been quite a number of amendments to be made. I am now amending it all in a Word document and then copying and pasting so as to have a back up until the file has been saved, with the corrected information in it.
Before anybody asks, yes I have double checked that I am clicking the 'OK' button and not the 'CANCEL' button.

';Actual Text'; box problem
I am not aware of any issues with text editing on V3, can you confirm you are running V3.1.2 if not it would be worth downloading it and installing the upgrade.

';Actual Text'; box problem
Just a thought, because this has been an issue in the past...
There are two separate boxes for 'Actual Text' (or 'Text from Source') - one on the Source Record itself, and another attached to the Source Citation.

Yes I am running V3.1.2. despite you being 'not aware of any issues with text editing on V3' and yet another user is aware of it.
I am editing directly in the Source itself.

';Actual Text'; box problem
Mary, sorry if I've confused things. The 'issue' I was referring to isn't that input text wasn't being saved. I meant that text entered into the box for 'Actual Text'/'Text from Source' on the Source record itself, is not shown when you view the Source pane on the property box for an individual, because that 'Actual Text'/'Text from Source' is a separate field linked to the Citation not to the Source.

Just to be clear - in the Source Records pane I clicked the + next to a Record and it dropped down to reveal

Actual Text - this entry already had some text in since I'd used Gedcom Census to enter information I'd collated just from the index of the census. It is this box that I had opened, added to and then clicked the OK button. As one of the additions I had made was to insert the address on the top line, changes were apparent - or not - immediately the box closed into the single line with the red text.
In the hope that this problem and maybe some older ones might also be resolved, I've just purchased V4. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

'Actual Text' box problem
Mary,
I've just tried what (I think) you have described and it seems to work ok for me in v4.
Add additional text to 'Actual Text' box via Source Records List window:

Open Source Panel (by double clicking on the name of the source in the Source Records List window:

I then saved the file, closed FH and re opened it and the 'THIS IS SOME ADDITIONAL TEXT' is stil there.
Don't know if this is different to v3, or maybe I've misunderstood what you're doing.
