How to re-install on a new PC

Post by davidcooper » 27 Oct 2010 15:37

Hello,

I need to re-install onto a new XP Pro PC and I have ‘lost’ the original PC installation (Windows 2K).

I have a collection of files but I don’t know which one to use. The files are:-

The original 2.1.8 (purchased)
Upgrade to 2.3.5 (downloaded)
Upgrade 3.0.0 (purchased)
Upgrade 3.0 to 3.1 (downloaded)
Upgrade 3 to 3.1.1 (downloaded)

I also have a backup file .ZIP from when last used (year 2007) and a folder containing the media images previously used in 2007)

How do I proceed?

Thanks

David

To reinstall Family Historian

Install the 2.1.8 CD
Install the V3 Upgrade CD
Download the V3.1.2 and install that.

To restore your backup open Family Historian and use the Backup/Restore option on the menu to restore your gedcom, copy your images back on and then use the Work With External File Links tool to repair the links to the media.
