When I open my project I get and error message Unrecognisable file error. If you are trying insert a picture, video, document or other multimedia file into Family Historian, you should click on the Insert menu and choose the appropriate menu item. To restore from a backup, use Restore on the File menu.'
I'm using windows XP, my system froze when this project was open. My only full backup is some months old. I can see the files on my C drive, but everytime I click on them I get the error message. I have tried every way I can think of to try and open them with FH. [confused]

I would also recommend looking in the Family Historian Projects folder in your xxx/xxx.fh_data to see if you have a tmp file in that folder, where xxx is your Project Name. If you have one and no .ged file rename the .tmp file to .ged
If you can't do the above, open FH and try the File/Backup and Restore/Restore option to restore one of your backups.

Since this is a Version 3 Usage problem there won't be a Projects folder!

As Audrey was talking about a project I wondered if the post was just in the wrong forum,
