Version 3.1.2 Upgrade on Windows 7

I loaded Version 3.0.0 Upgrade on Windows 7 after loading Version 2.1.6 and everything worked OK. I then loaded Version 3.1.2 Upgrade and the Icon in My Documents changed from the usual page with 3 green squares and when I tried to open nothing happened. I can open my tree by opening a blank tree and importing it from there, but is there any way I can open it direct from the Icon?

It sounds as if windows 7 has lost the association, right click on the file, select open with and select Family Historian and tick the always open with box at the bottom.
Don't forget you can also simply open the file using File/open on the FH menu and if you only have one file use the preferences to always open your selected file when FH is started.

Having right-clicked on the GEDCOM file and chosen Open with and Choose Default Program you will have an Open with window.
Ensure Always use the selected program to open this kind of file is ticked.
Then assuming Family Historian is not listed, click the Browse button.
Browse to C:Program Files (x86)Family HistorianProgramfh.exe and click Open.
Note that this is Program Files (x86) NOT Program Files.
This will add Family Historian to the Open with window and you can click OK to fix the problem.

I tried your suggestion and got the message 'Path does not exist'
I looked at the program file and I have the following that start with fh they are: fh, FH, fh.xr & FHN.dll.

The 'Program Files (x86)' folder will only be there if you have a 64 bit operating system I think. Follow Tatewise's instructions again but it should be:
C:Program FilesFamily HistorianProgramfh.exe

That did not work either, same message as before. The computer is an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook with a 64-bit operating system.

If the path C:Program Files (x86)Family HistorianProgram does not exist, then it would seem FH is not installed correctly.
Can you run FH from Start > All Programs > Family Historian > Family Historian ?

Postscript
The files you mention in the
C:Program Files (x86)Family HistorianProgram folder should be as shown below.
The important file is the
Fh file with the
fh logo and
Type =
Application.
When using the
Open with window
Browse button it should look as follows, then clicking
Open followed by
OK should fix the problem.
