Printing a list of individuals
Jennifer,
You could create a List which includes everyone and then use:
Reports>Miscellaneous Reports>List Report - selecting the List you want.
By default the report seems to appear in alphabetical order by Surname and then First Name. It also shows birth/death dates.
There doesn't seem to be much scope for customisation but perhaps someone else might be able to suggest an alternative.

Printing a list of individuals
Jennifer,
Just had another idea. You could use one of the built-in Queries - All Individuals. This is read-only but you can save it as a custom query and then play around with the fields until you get what you want. You can save the result as .csv (which can be loaded into any spreadsheet) or .txt (ditto a word processor) or you can print it out as is (if you have a lot of individuals it might run to many pages - so do a print preview first!)

Printing a list of individuals
I have a report that prints out the names - get to as follows:-
Reports: miscellaneous reports: Individuals_List_Report .... when the screen comes up click on the double chevrons to get everyone (and if you want them by surname then make sure the individuals list is in surname order) and you will get a list of everyone : press okay, and a list appears. If you need to you can fiddle with it under options...
not sure if this is a built in report or a custom from here but for me it does the trick...
